Default More on wheels, will these fit???

All these threads on wheel size and geometry are very educational. I want to go with a 17" wheel, keep a "reasonable" corvette look to the car, and maybe save some weight. I found these on Summit...

http://store.summitracing.com/defaul...17+8+vintiques

I'm looking at item #WVI-68-7812042

A 17" wheel with 4.5" backspacing fits correct? Is it necessary to relocate the e-brake for this wheel? Do they make them in aluminum?

I want to keep the overall tire specs equivalent to the 255s on there now.

Take a look at this website www.wheelvintiques.com/rallye.html

The have billet versions of the wheels and a gallary of installations on several vehicles. I am leaning toward 16 inchers with 50series tires because to me the super low profile tires just dont look right on the old cars...and it doesn't take much to bent them with 35 or 40 series tire on there. Still thinking this one out so I'm watching this thred myself.

That's why most run a 50 series on the 17 inch wheel. Looks fine. Stock backspacing is 4" with an 8" inch wheel. So if you have a 8.5" wheel then the 4.5" backspacing would be okay. People have said that they get a slight rub at full lock on the front with anything bigger than 4".

The stock setting for your corvette is 8 inch wide wheel with a 4 inch backspacing.
If you keep that aspect you can put 16/17/18 inch wheels on without modification.

I had the 16X8 steel wheels on my car for awhile. They weigh a ton! Also don't waste your $$ on the chrome version. My chrome ones started to rust in spots after only a few months. You also have to buy there caps and rings my stock ones didn't fit. I almost lost a cap a few times because it wouldn't stay on very well. The rest seemed to fit fine.
I know there $$ but I would recomemnd the aluminum 17 inch version.

Is backspacing the measurment from the outside of rim->centerpiece or inside of rim ->centerpiece ??

Backspace is the distance from the mounting face of the hub/wheel to the inside edge of the wheel.

I have the 17"x9" Series 90 Billet rallye wheels on mine. They are 4" BS. I should have done the 4.5", but I can live with what I've got. They are very light. Didn't weigh them, but I'd guess 15 pounds MAX.

No engine or interior, so I'm sitting way high, but you get the idea...
