Default Seat back lock release????

When the seat will no longer lock, what is it exactly that goes wrong? And how does one get into the lock release? It looks from the outside that the release merely locks into the end of the flat metal piece that runs the length of the seat--right or wrong? Thanks-

Its just 2 pieces of metal one slides inside the other at the top of the seat their is a button you push this button has a spring attached to it below the push button (on the same plate) a stamped out metal finger will lock into a stamped out hole of the inner metal strip this is the strip attached to the seat bottom.

My guess is the spring is broke; not pushing the metal finger into the cut out hole, or the metal finger/lip is worn off. You will need to remove the metal strip from the seat back to fix

Good luck

PS if you need photos I can take a few it's sitting right hear on my desk.

also try adjusting the seat back nuts .... at the bottom of the back and the back of the bottom if you screw those in sometimes the seat will go ahead and work properly ....... Robert

How does the back come off--I see two screws down at the bottom--does the seat back slide up over a lip of some sort or is there something else holding it on?
