Default Need help to connect cigarette lighter

I'm in the process of re-installing the center console today and I'm having trouble connecting electrical power to the cigarette lighter. I could have sworn that the orange wire is supposed to connect to the element of the lighter, but no juice is flowing to the lighter. Am I connecting the wrong wire? There doesn't seem to be any other available wires coming from the harness to connect to the lighter. Could it be the fuse?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!!!

Thanks,
-TeleMan.

Thats it. The only wire with the funky plug in end. You have your ground ring attached?

That's ironic. I'm just tearing out the console this morning and the cig lighter is still attached. It has a gray wire running to it. I tried to trace the source and find a better place to disconnect, but it just runs into a huge bunch of wire going into, what I guess is, the harness. The lead running into the lighter doesn't want to disconnect easily.

And my lighter did work before I disconnected everything.

Yeah, it's got a funky black plug on the end of the orange wire. Sounds right.

What do you mean by "ground ring"?

Orange to lighter. Fuse- CTSY LTR CLK

Grey is instrument bulb wiring. Try w/ lights on. Of course the orange wire could have been replaced w/ grey.

There's a round thin steel grounding ring on my '78 that slides over the lighter body and is held snug by the retainer. (You must unscrew the lighter retainer from under the console to seperate from the body)

Got it!

Ok, I unscrewed it from the old lighter assembly. Now I think I've got it figured out. Cool!

Thanks for your help!
