Holley Double Pumper Identification
A buddy of mine just got a 75 vette. The motor has been all dressed up and has an aluminum intake with a Holley double pumper carb on it. I went over to his house yesterday and we did a little tinkering on the car. He asked me if I knew what size the carb was and of course I have no idea. Is there a way to tell what size the carb is by just looking at it. The only numbers I could find were on the blocks just behind the fuel bowls. I didn't write them down but I can get them if needed.
There should be some numbers on the choke housing. If you can find the numbers, do a search on Ebay using these numbers, and that should tell you what size carb it is.
There should be a number on the front of the air horn of the carb like R-4781 or something similar. That will be the model number of the carb. Then you can look it up.
If it has a choke horn, it will be stamped on the side of the horn itself. For instance on my 650 DP, mine is stamped with 4777-4. On others the horn will be stamped with List -81850 for example. It it is a Dominator or racing carb without a horn then it will be stamped on the top of the carb body, close to the bores. You would have to view it from the top to see it. Example of this would something like L 9375. If the previous owner had the choke horn milled off (along with the List numbers) , well then it's gonna be harder to find out.
