How has everybod's luck been with e-bay? I just ordered several things a couple outright; a couple i won the auction. But it just seams either the sellers are real busy or aren't real prompt with responses. For instance I send an e-mail to a guy letting him know his money is on its way, he says he ships the day after receving payment. I sent the payment on tuesday from MS to TN and haven't heard a word. Seamed like an honest sincere person, but who knows.
Second deal is with a guy that I won some roller rockers from for SBC I put his money in paypal and know its there. Just wondering if I'm gonna be scammed since no one wants to seam to tell me my stuff's on it's way.
What are some average delivery times on shipped items?

Reason: almost one too many Budweiser's affected my spelling
I have been mostly selling, but sometimes buying, on ebay for well over 8 years now. I promptly ship all items within 1 business day of receiving payment. (except for checks which I wait for clearance first) Most of the sellers I have dealt with are pretty good w/shipping. However some have been real sloooooow too.
I guess like the rest of life, there are good, pretty good, pretty bad and just plain bad people out there. eBay is nothing more than the same cross section of people that you deal with in other walks of life.
Make sure to check their feedback, don't be afraid ask lots of questions and the most important is Cavet Emptor (sp?). Don't spend/send more $$$ than your willing to lose.
I make a good living off ebay and what ACECO says is true. Pay with PayPal as much as you can. They really are great in preventing fraud. I'll always pay a bit more from a different seller if the cheaper seller won't take Paypal.
Knock on wood, but I've been buying, and occasionally selling, on ebay for many years (since 98 or 99). I've even bought some big ticket items like leather furniture and dining room furniture. Never have had a problem, although sometimes there is better communication and speed of shipping.
I always look for reputation though using feedback. I always read any negative feedback before purchasing to see if it is legit and if there are any patterns.
Many hate & no longer use or accept paypal, more of a problem & being sued by many. Recently lost a major class action case.
Ebay is fine, most people just want a fair deal. Check feedback. Unfortunately there are some cons so even a good seller can get unwarranted negative feedback.
I've been doing ebay (buying and selling)for several years now (feedback is up over 700) --- beats the heck of off the old way - send Hemmings your ad - a month later there is was in print - answer the phone calls and try to sell your stuff --
I offer a full satisfaction refund policy - you just have to pay postage/shipping both ways.
There is always the good the bad and the ugly -- I'm always surprised by the guy who list a part for more $'s than you could buy out of a catalog and am equally surprised (and happy) when bidding on my item goes well over what I think its worth.
Over all I give ebay a B+ -- be careful, do your homework on what its worth - balance what its worth to you and oh yeah best advice -- be the last bidder
Thanks for the feedback, I'm still a little paranoid after getting screwed pretty good on my car by a "reputable" person who had to have been Bubba's dad or uncle or in my case probably both. Thanks for the input, I did my part so now I'll just have too wait and see.
I've used ebay and paypal for years, but after reading some of the things on that "no paypal" site, I'm seriously reconsidering using paypal. I was already aware of some of the crap that PayPal does, but I'm very disturbed now about letting them have the kind of access to my checking account that they now have.

I too have read the horror stories about paypal but continue to use them because you just can't beat the convenience. However from day one and long before I ever heard of their tactics, I setup a seperate checking account from my personal or business accounts. Then when I transfer funds out of Paypal, as soon as they hit my account I withdraw all but a couple bucks. This way paypal can "go scratch" if they think they are going to withdraw any money back from my account.
Some scary things on that NoPayPal web site... There's a link to a (long) conversation with PayPal that is quite interesting. I've always found strange their strong desire to get their hands on my bank account info; never gave them the satisfaction, though.
