Recommend a supercharger?
Well, a supercharger that fits under the hood. That's a tuffy. I don't think Procharger can help you out but try Whipple Chargers. They make a low profile screw type charger that sucks air in from the back. Screw chargers are the best giving you low-end torque that a roots type can't. Whipple Chargers are a bit pricey because of the persision required to build them. But they are the best. Their chargers start at $3500 for a non-efi small block. But you'll be getting a heck a of good charger. Good luck.
Paxton has the parts to make it happen as well, but have carbureted versions for Fords only.
There is more, however, to think about, then whether or not it will fit under the hood....
A centrifugal pump, as RPM doubles, will cube boost. So that, if you are at 2000 RPM, with 2# boost, it will be 8# at 4000, and 24# at 8000 RPM. The quick summary is that they only come on at higher RPMs, and are essentially meaningless during normal driving conditions.
A positive displacement pump, such as a Roots-type or Lysholm-screw (Whipple) supercharger, will increase output in a linear fashion, rather than a logarithmic fashion as seen on a centrifugal blower. With a small Roots-style blower (such as those by Weiand and Holley), you'll see instant throttle-response, which will put a BIG smile on your face...
I disagree with the statement that "Screw chargers are the best giving you low-end torque that a roots type can't." It depends on how you set everything up. I can guarantee you that a screw-type supercharger will double the expense you'll be looking at, be limited by the total HP they can add, and are a loser as far as "bang-for-the-buck."
My recommendation is to look on EBay for a supercharger that'll fit your application, and get it. Will it fit under the hood??? No.
Will you find *any* supercharger to fit under the hood of a stock L-88 hood, that will actually be useful on the street? NO.
