High everyone , the problem I,am having is intermitant dash lights. The light switch is a couple of years old ,the fuses are new ,i have a feeling it's going to be a bad ground BUT where is the ground for the dash lights. Dave
The gauge lights have a hot wire and the plug socket is grounded to the back of the console. It sounds like you have one of the bulb sockets loosening up. You can take the passenger dash side off and check the bulbs close to you to see if that is your problem. The blue "Bright" high beam indicator is also attached to this circuit. If your gauge lights go out, the blue light will not light up. The pushbutton light (if it applies) and, I think, the door ajar light will also go out.
Yes my speedo ,tack and amp ,oil pressure ,clock ,floor lamps, don,t always come on.
If it is a power problem: All the dash lights (back lighting) are tied to a single circuit where power runs from the light switch to the fuse panel (INST LPS) then to the dash. If this is the problem you need to look at switch and fuse areas for loose connection or corrosion.
If it is a ground problem: The Tach / Speedo / Console grounds are tied to a common ground (Inst Panel Hard Ground) that I think is connected somewhere around the gage bezel (will be a round eyelet type connection help in place with a screw. Again, you need to start looking in this area for a loose or corroded connection.
I think you have a ground problem vice a power problem. Hope this helps.
