If you are refering to the Elderbrock filter , I had one but they are not too safe . The filter will catch fire if your engine backfires . As far as clearance , not a problem .

I have the exact same one as in the picture,,,depending on your intake hight, I can't say if it will fit,,, I had to trim about 3/4 inches off the mounting ring to clear my hood. At the bigining of my rebuild I had some big timming isues, and lots of carb back firing, but it never caught fire, just melted ,lololl. I replaced the filter pad, addressed all my timming problems, and never had a problem since. They are not expensive, look good and work well for me..
The triangular type air filters won't fit, not withoout a dropped base and I have searched for sometime and dont think anyone makes one.
Billet Specialties make an aluminum one, but again with a 2" filter you may be getting very close to the hood (and they are not cheap)
In the end I made my own, using a 427 tripower type air cleaner as a guide (they are only 2" tall).
there is one on my 72 in the signature below. I think they are junk the element is basically a piece of foam. fits under the hood fine with the small block in it at that time.
