I'm with you ... 5 attempts at putting in in correctly. (Helps to have the lower
hose in place first...) Last time I put mine in, it was slightly off and enabled
the electric fan to rub a hole right in the center of it.
Should be able to remove it... pull on one side, walk around pull on the other...
Mine is a '79 and I have removed the radiator twice in the 5 years I have owned it. I have never removed the hood... Done it both times by myself.
Is an auto w/ AC (for what that matters...). Not hard at all, just a bit time consuming (but what on these cars isn't!?!?). On the '79 there is a ton of things that need to come out first like the air ducting, fan cowl (did not need to remove, but loosen and move back over the fan as far as it would go). Trans cooling lines were already cut and rubber hoses put in. That made it much easier, I think.
