C3's are BEAUTIFUL!!!
I've now moved into my new home and came back to the forum to find a bit of gloom prowling the cyber tunnels.
Just a quick statement:
All here love cars, all cars!
We happen to have different reasons for loving the Vette and more specifically the C3, whether it being cheaper to acquire, parts easier to come by in North America, family tradition, THE muscle car for you etc.etc.
I have a rubber bumper '74 BB that has been toyed with and made into my personal baby. The body has NOT been changed as I see it as the perfect form. Those C3 lines are just plain drop dead gorgeous!!! Add a bit of chromalusion and I smile from ear to ear every single day that I look at her....as do everyone else that happens to get a glimpse of her.
The rubber bumpers work for me as I am up on the north east coast where the air is salty and wet....not good for chrome I guessed!!
Chromalusion, side pipes, a monster BB, 6-speed, original seats re upholstered in black leather, 17" ROH clothed in 40 series rubber.....a fuche trailer in tow for some extra gas on the odd longer trip.
Lads....my insides are smiling when I'm in that thing!!!!
That deep 540 rumble, a tremor through the car at idle, as I look over the steering wheel at that long nose with that functional scoop and the beautifully curved front wheel wells, the deep blue turning into emerald green in the middle and deep purple on the wheel wells under the influence of the setting sun. The Wall playing in the backround and I am in HEAVEN!!
Sometimes a Mustang or Ricer will pull up next to me and you can see the admiration as they look at the car although they will never admit it.
They rev up their engine and turn up the music to torture the "Old Vette"
With a slight sigh of satisfaction I push a button and change The Wall into YAZOO (some of you have not heard of them as you are too young....great driving music)
I turn up the volume and those JL15W6's come alive behind me.....another look of admiration comes my way.
Then they take off like a savage as the light turns green and I let them go for a second or two, punch the gas....not too hard as she may be my baby, but baby dragon at that! As I feel the rears at the edge of their grip I gently hold the pedal and then push it down a bit.
In second I am right along side, when I hit third I give her a little extra shot just to let out that growl in front and a chirp in the back and I'm GONE....
At the next light all eyes in the other car have turned to mutual appreciation and respect....even the Mustang guy gives a thumbs up with a little shake of the head.
There is nothing like the feeling of waxing a C3....she comes alive in sparkles of light and shine. Other cars only shine brighter.......
Old timer, low tech., gas guzzler, leaky tops, a squeak here and there, hot as hell inside......but so damn beautiful
I will buy another car or two, but she'll always be my baby!
There is nothing like a BEAUTIFUL C3...

Got stomped on by a shark!
When a cheetah catches his prey (the spectator) and a shark happens to come along, the cheetah fades into the background

Also brush up on the AC Cobra. Vettes ran for cover when they were on the track in the mid-60s.

How many Cheeeeetahs and Almost Chevy Cobras were sold in total??
The Cheetah did quit well in drag racing, but it was VERY unstable for sports car racing. It was scary-fast and not very well balanced. Many professional drivers refused an offer to drive it
Unfortunately, the fire destroyed any hopes of further development.
The good news is they are back in production in an improved version!!!

Expect them to be very pricey though.
Summerfun: Cheetahs were not "production line" cars like a Vette. It was a RACE car. It was built to do what the Vette COULDN'T do...beat AC Cobras. If you ever go to the Chevy Vettefest in Chicago you will see a few of them on display. They are, quite literally, PRICELESS.
Oh yeah...you gotta be a real LITTLE dood if you ever wanted to fit in one!!!
