Default What ever happened to quality control?

I ordered four ball joints for the 77 Vette from Corvette Central and two of them were messed up. One upper was missing a grease fitting and one lower was missing a mounting bolt but had an extra nut!! WTF!!???!!! Do these people check the packages before shipping any more????

Now I gotta go to the hardware store to get another bolt and remove a grease fitting from the old ball joint.

Thanks Corvette Central 'You Got Mail'.

Good question. I know what you mean, I have had trouble with a lot of the parts I purchased the last few years. Sometimes I've had them in storage for a couple of years before going to use them, only to find a problem. Maybe most parts are imported these days?

Did you call them.
I ordered my interior through them, some of the parts were wrong. Called them and they took care of it, no cost to me. Other than that I have has no problems.

Also, I have had good experiences at Paragon, they check every part before it leaves the warehouse.

I know what you mean about keeping the parts a while before installing them. I ordered these parts in spring so I would have all the parts when I got around to doing the job. I guess that didnt work. And I relized I had the same problem with my the busings for my 57 Bel-Air. I ordered the parts years ago and just got back to working on the car not to long ago. I opened the boxes for the lower control arm bushing and two were correct and two were the wrong bushings!! Correct number on the box, but wrong bushings in the box. Dont remember where I got them from so I had to order new ones.

As for calling them, I'm not sure what that will accomplish. I need the parts today, so I used an old grease fitting from the old ball joint, and am about to leave for the hardware store to get another bolt. I dont have time to wait for them to send me parts. I did send them a angry e-mail regarding this issue. In yor case I think I would call also, if the parts were completly wrong on the interior. But for a missing bolt, I'll just go to the d@mn store and buy one.

Pizzes me off!!!!!!!!!!

I kmow how you feel. I was puting u-joint in my pickup one afternoon. Got got the driveshaft out, got the old u-joints out only to find Napa had gave me the wrong ones. Called them and they were closed. Almost ruined my weekend. Went to the other parts store (Car Quest) and got the right ones. To the wrong ones back that Monday and the guy behind the counter was a smart@$$. I use todo all of my business there. Afterthat ordeal and have never been back to Napa. Also found out that Napa charges more than Car Quest for the exact same filter, both have the same WIX part number.

PS They sent me 3 mouldings for the top of the windshield and none for the side.

I've done a total front to back top to bottom restore on my 73 and have had issues and problems with just about every part ordered from every vendor out there.

There is no quality control anywhere. Paragon sent me a passenger side windshield piece labeled drivers and then argued with me that I must be mistaken, eventually took care of it I think never did check my credit card.

Mid America sent me two pass side pipes with my chambered exhaust I ordered again made it right but put me a week behind. Etc..

These people must think we can just work on our cars any ole time.
