Sporadic Oil Pressure?

I have been having a problem for the last couple of days with my oil pressure. It has seemed somewhat sporadic and relatively low. It is really low around 5 psi when I just leisurely accelerate and sometimes goes all the way to 0 psi. So I am getting scared. It runs fine and idles fine it just has low/sporadic oil pressure. What I mean by sporadic is that the needle just jumps all over the place and stays in the same spot for a little bit then will jump around alot. There is no method to its madness. It has been sporadic for a while but it hasnt ever been showing low pressure like it has been lately. Is my oil pressure sensor going bad or is it my pump going bad? Any help would be appreciated.

Make sure the wire is connected to the sender correctly at the back of the block, sound like it's loose

Not to sound like a wise ***, but have you checked your dipstick lately? Last time my oil pressure jumped about I was low on oil. That would be an easy fix now wouldn't it?
