Default 200 MPH Speedometer

I want to replace (not convert) the 85 MPH speedometer in my '80 Corvette with a new 200 MPH speedometer (or 140 or 160 etc). What is the best route? Looks like I would need to just do the Auto Meter thing.

I'd go with the 160 stock speedo. But will it fit your dash?

I took the leap and order all new Auto Meter gauges (Pro-Comp black faced), including the 200 MPH speedometer.

I have a '73 that has an '80 interior... there have been problems with some of the gauges. I'm putting in a new motor (and probably transmission), so want to make sure all my gauges work right, as well as start the odometer at zero.

It will fit fine. I changed mine a couple of weeks ago in my 80.

Looks bigger to me... haven't actually tried to install it... just compared it from the outside. I like the 200 MPH better anyway. At shows, little kids like to look at the speedometer to "See how fast it can go".

Zip offeres a 140MPH conversion here. It's another option.

I fancy changing my speed as well - not only to look good but as I usually cruise at around 100 mph - it would be kinda handy to know.

In the UK, below 100 the cops give you a good bollocking - over and its usually your licence gone for 6 months

So, anyone got a spare one looking for a home ??

Can send bucks, visa or 3 nights out with the girlfriend.......and the looser gets 6 nights out with her mother.

For what its worth, I found this set 140 tach-speedo set up on ebay for ya. I wouldnt expect it to go for big bucks.

Somebody painted it black, but you may want to consider it as a core for another one, or with a little luck you may be able to clean this one up. If it was me ( and the unit worked) I would get it,and then just replace the face, which is a lot less $$$$$ than the whole unit. Good luck.

I can get you a 140 or 165 mph speedo unit. They sell for 200 and I'll pick up the shipping for a forum member.
They're rebuilt and look stock the 140s were in 78-79s the 165s never happened but can be easily installed in a 78-82.
