Ok I'm just about ready to fire up my newly built 361 engine. I was cranking it with the coil unhooked to get the oil pumping before the initial start up and I'm not getting any fuel to the carb.
I did put about 6 gallons in the tank, everything is new including the Holley mechanical fuel punp. I pulled it to make sure the push rod was in place and it is.
The fuel flowed freely before I dissambled so the lines are ok.
Do I need to prime the lines? How long cranking the motor will it take to get the fuel up to the carb?
Thanks in advance
Insulting questions but are you sure you have the lines hooked to the correct ports on the pump? The pump is situated such that it should gravity fill. Did you happen to pinch the back rubber line at the tank to stop the flow, I forgot I had done that and was left wonder why there was no fuel flow. :o
I would disconnect the fuel line from the carb and crank it. Your pump may be working but something is wrong with your carb. I wasnt getting fuel in my carb but my pump was working fine. It turned out that the needles had fallen into the main jets therefore letting in no gas at all. Let us know how it goes.
Thanks guys,
The hoses at the tank should be fine I didn't do anything back there.
I unhooked the hose just before the carb and nothing. Not even gas smell. I have the pump intake side hooked up to the 3/8". or the larger of the 2 lines from the tank. I'm not using the return line.
It's been so long since I dissambled everything that I forgot which one was in and out.
I have a Holley 12-327-11 fuel pump with the intake and outlet ports side by side, as apposed to over and under. I don't have any papers with it but the Holley tech guy told me the port that is on the boss is the intake, and the one set back in is the outlet.
