When I put my CD changer in the jack compartment, I left the jack in the garage. I remember an old post about a jack that fits inside the spare tire, but couldn't find it in the archives. Anybody know of a sturdy jack that fits in there with a stock ralley wheel? Thanks, Joe
I didn't get one with my 73.
I think it is a scissor jack.
Does a scissor jack from another chevy work on the vette and stow in the passenger compartment?
It's a folding wrench isn't it?
I guess you guys misunderstood my question. I have the original jack and wrench, and it is a scissors type, and it was in the pass side compartment. But when I put a CD changer in that space, there's no room for the jack, so I'm not carrying a jack now (AAA). I heard that some newer cars came with a jack that sat inside the spare tire, so I was thinking I could put one of them in my spare tire, too. The original jack doesn't fit in the spare, it's too long. Thanks, Joe
sorry, couldn't resist the corny puns. Just got done reading a post from DEP and it got me in the mood. Please don't take offense. Valid question though and it is a really good idea.
Hmm, that gives me an idea. If i ever needed someplace to carry something home, that was dirty and I didn't want in my interior I could stow it in the spare tire carrier. As long as I anticipated this and left the spare in the garage.
I saw a post some time ago and the guy's website showed "strapping" the jack, etc., to the rear frame. Perhaps make a "container" of some type and install in that area between the tire carrier and the bumper.
