Default Help Big Block Alt/Power Steering brackets.

I am going to convert my 73 Corvette from a SB to a BB. What can I use from the small block as far as pulleys and what else would I need and the best place to get the parts would be fantastic? Everything I have looked at seems to be up in the $700.oo range which sounds way out of site just for some mounts and pulleys.

Thank you everyone in advance for any help you can give.

Factory reproduction stuff is available from many of the supporting vendors listed on this sight, but it will still run you around $250 - $300. Other options such as serpentine belt stuff can indeed go right through the roof.

Thank you Steve I did find just the brackets at Paragon but the pulleys needed was really expensive. Just the Water pump pulley from them was 200.oo and the power steering pulley was 95.oo.

Please if anyone knows where to get these parts a little less expensive please chim in? Even used ones are fine if they work.

Again thank you everyone for helping if you can.

I looked and looked all over the internet and purchased most of my brackets and pulleys from Paragon. I refused to pay $200 for one pulley, not counting the others. I had other pulleys in the shed and made it work but they squeeled plus, Big Blocks are notorious for throwing belts. That's why I went w/ the serpentine no more belt throwing, eveything is garunteed to line up, looks better, easy swap on the side of the road w/ one belt, lighter w/ all billit aluminum, plus they are under driven and should pick up some power.

Downside: cost, Cost COST!!

Lol Yes I know Corey we have been talking about it. But as you say Cost Cost Cost wow. I just do not want to spend as much for pulley's and brackets as it would cost to do an engine rebuild lol.

There isn't any inexpensive way to do it, unfortunately. My LS-4 with all options utilizes an idler pulley against the water pump belt. Sometime in the past, Bubba through the pulley away. Just the pulley and mounting brackets go for over $200. And that is just for the water pump belt.

I also need to replace my power steering/alternator bracket (bent by Bubba - no charge) and managed to locate one by walking through the swap meet at Carlisle (first time there - wow. but that's another story). If you can find pieces used, it will help. But it takes a lot of patience.

I would buy a complete running BB and use all the acessories even if they are long water pump stuff and run an electric fan. I just bought a great running 1980 chevy truck with 454 and all the stuff I need not to mention a 400 tranny. I also bought a 77 suburban for 1500 same deal using the motor in a Chevelle. Just my opinion
