Anybody have experience tuning Edelbrock carbs?
A guy here in my offfice has a new Edelbrock carb on a performer intake. He says it is running rough at idle but smooths out at highway speed. Sounds to me like it is a vaccum line leaking or disconnected. He says that he has checked all of them and they are fine. I am going to take a look at it during lunch today. I am not very familiar with these carbs.
- I am assuming that there is a separate screw adjustment for air and fuel correct?
- What are the default settings?
- Any characteristics out of the box i.e. rich, lean?
- Any quick tuning tricks without messing with metering rods?

Depending on the model it could be lean out of the box. I know the 1400 series is configured that way for "fuel economy".
Yay!

The initial setting for the two fron idle mix screws is generally 2.5 turns from all the way in, then tune for max vacuum....
if when you turn it in, you don't get a stumble along the way, there is a mess up somewhere....
