Default Early Cutouts for Hooker Sidepipes

Does anybody make an early cutout for Hooker Sidepipe Headers?

I don't know if there is a term for it... that is just what I calling it. What I want is to be able to run the headers open, but not burn the side of the car.

I could make it myself by cutting an extra set of sidepipes short... but that is a little drastic.

Best of my knowledge they don't make a 4in cutout the largest I've see is 3in. You'll probably have to fabricate one.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding you here, but why not pull the muffler inserts out? If you're wanting to have a 4" dump and run muffler inserts too, well that might be hard to do. Would imagine you would have to install a dump in the collector area just ahead of the muffler insert. I would think a 90 degree turn for the dump wouldn't be that great for performance. Also wonder what ground clearance issues would be like and what would it look like sticking off them beautiful sidepipes?

See the outside turn at the end of the sidepipe? I just want a shortie sidepipe that moves that turn to right after the collector. No muffler.

Hi, I bet you could find what you need at a heavy duty truck dealership or at a truck stop, probably cheaper too. Good luck,,,,,,,,,Peace,,,,,,Craig

Why not just remove the baffles and run the sidepipes open?

I see what you are wanting now. Would imagine you are looking at pulling the sidepipes, slicing out how much you want, having them rewelded and rechromed.

The sidepipe supposedly slips onto the the collector of the header. So far I haven't been able to remove the sidepipe from my 24 year old small block Hooker headers. I also have a new set of big block Hooker Headers & Sidepipes... in fact 2 new sets of side pipes... one set will have the turbo spirals installed and the other set will get the standard Hooker baffle installed. And then I want to also be able to run them open at times, but didn't want to burn the side of my car.

If all you want is the short pipe for the end, that's easy. Go to any vendor that sells Walker exhaust pipe, buy a 4" mandrel bend "U" pipe (about $50.00) and cut out the center of the "U". I built my own sidepipes and that's how I got my ends.

This is true. Most heavy duty truck suppliers/dealers sell a variety of 4" pipes in different lengths in chrome with the turn out. You can get them as short as 10" at my local heavy duty truck supplier.

I think it will be better to get the 4" mandrel & cut it. There has to be a hanger welded on... and then might as well powder coat them.
