Default Blown fuse problem

I need some help. I recently bought a '78 Silver Anniversary Corvette. Only 61K miles in awesome condition. There are just a few issues that need to be dealt with. The one that really annoys me is there is a short somewhere in the electricle system. The fuse that keeps blowing is the one that protects the courtesy lights, power locks, factory alarm, and the cig. lighter (I think). I have a '73 Nova and a '91 Camaro and am very aware of the common problem with GM cig. lighters and started there and it tests fine. I am having a hard time recreating the problem without driving the car. I've tried opening different combonations of doors, hood, and t-tops with no results. Turned the key on and off multiple times with differnt doors open, ect. The fuse will only blow while I'm driving for at least 30 min. or so. I have spent hours looking at the scematics in the shop manual until I get to crosseyed to see and still can't seem to find anything that would cause it to short only while driving. This is probably unrelated because it's on a different circuit, but my fuel gauge jumps around a lot. I think that is just a bad ground or something, havn't pulled it apart yet. Thank you in advance for any advice you can send my way.
