Default Spring Question

I'm putting new parts in the A-Arms on a smallblock '74, and need to know which way do the springs go in? One end has coils close together, the other end the coils are further apart. Which is top/bottom? The springs are new from Chev.
Thanks in advance and wish SPRING was back! OR here already!

Do a search on this forum, I think this has been brought up before. I'm surprised no one has chimed in on this yet. I think the narrower coils will be on the bottom but wait for conformation on that before taking my word for it.

Good luck

Default Been there, done that

Thanks for the tip Red, but I spent a couple of hours looking in the past. I also went to the C1-2 sites because the rolling chassis is practically identical to C-3.
I did notice the dates of the earliest postings are 1969. Wow.. the Internet wasn't up and runninger here I'm sure. But when I try to access those dates nothing comes up.

BACK to the springs, the part of the spring I can see on my 2 63's looks wide spacing. I cannot see the upper part becuse they are in the spring well. I don't know if those springs are the same style. I'll keep looking and taking all advice..
Thanks.

OBTW..what's red shift?...I work gold shift.

FINALLY!!! GOT IT!!
After searching a week on here with no luck, I finally found the answer to the front spring question.
After sending out a hundred emails with about 60% return with "can't help," I ran a cross a website that had it on the first page. Thanks to a guy restoring a '72.

FRONT COIL SPRINGS:
The spring is a variable rate spring – closer coils at the TOP. Some new aftermarket springs are shorter and may be simpler to install than it was taking the old spring out.

I hope this may help some other people out there!

And a big thanks to RED_Shift for a warm welcome!
