Default Need to rant (brakes)

Thoses brakes are getting on my nerves. It all started last spring when I installed a line lock to prevent my newly surface rear disk from wearing when doing burnout at the strip. The linelock causes my brakes to pull to the right. I've done everything to make it up but it didn't work out. So after a couple of weeks of trying, I quited and put it back to normal.

Everything was good and a couple of week later, the pedal began to go low and I found a leaking rear caliper.

I ordered a stainless rebuilt and put it in. It was still leaking. The rebuilt had a improper installed seal so I corrected it and it was all good again after another couple of weeks.

I went to the strip and did a couple of burnout to heat up the tires.

The next week, the pedal went gradually to the floor after a long trip. No leak this time but the rear disk had probably a little too much run out since the burnout. Air was pumping in through the rear caliper. I bleeded them and it took 2 weeks until the pedal goes to the floor again. Note that it's my daily driver.

So now, I ordered O-ring conversion kit to correct it again.

I hope it's the last time I deal with those brakes this year. Since I have a month left to drive it, I should be ok then.

I had to replace my calipers twice (under warranty), my M/C three times, and all the bleeders at least three times. If you can get new o-ring calipers then they are the best solution. I think VBP/Van Steel has them exchange for your old ones.

The biggest problem I have with my brakes is that they squeak really bad. Anyone else have that problem?

Why not fix the REAL problem which is the runout on the rear rotor? You're just adding bubba bandaid fixes now.

Because it's gonna be on and on since the linelock option is not available at this time. And when I do burnout, it causes runout. Not a bad one, 0,013". I don't even feel it on the pedal when I brake. But just enough to pump air throught the lip seal. I think that I'm fixing the problem to a point that I will be able to run the car a complete season without getting problem with the rear brake. The O-ring concept is more advance, that's all. Eventually, I'll have to change the rear disc for sure.

No wonder you pump air! Get it fixed before you lose your brakes and don't have them in an emergency stop!

Don't forget I'm on the Quebec roads too!

Relax!!! Don't worry that much... The max limit of the total runout is 0,010". I'm not too far. Look there for some info http://www.idavette.net/hib/BBfHInet12.htm
