I've comitted to doing my 71 convertible that is in good-excellent shape , but the paint is over 20 years old, to the paint room this winter to do the stress fractures and go thru it. I want to start getting all my weather stripping and door pieces for the ratteling window and anything else I might need. I plan on rerchroming and also need just a couple of interior vinyl parts. I plan on doing it right and keeping it as close to orginal as possible. ANY SUGGESTION on the best book or best place to buy kits so I dont have to order one piece at a time.
Here are some comments on the books I have. I am planning a restoration on my '71 also, but I have not started and therefore have not used these books yet. They all appear to have information of value.
Assembly Instuction Manual (AIM)--This is the original factory assembly book. A necessity for restorers.
How to Restore & Modify Your Corvette 1968-82 by Richard Newton--Looks like it has good details and instructions for rebuilding individual systems on the car.
Corvette Restoration Guide 1968-1982 by Richard Prince--Looks like a good resource for details and pictures of how the cars were originally built; not a restoration manual.
Chevrolet Corvette Restoration Guide by Lindsay Porter--originally published in England but looks like it has good details and instructions for dismantling and restoring the car; documents restoration of a '69.
Corvette Chassis Restoration Guide 1953 through 1972 by Joseph A. Tripoli, Jr.--Has a lot of detailed pictures of chassis components but looks to be short on text.
It is my understanding that at least some of the supply companies give quantity discounts. I recommend you check with them to see what they have to offer.

Sounds like you've got a nice 71 and in addition to the list Nick references if your seeking to maintain originality...get the NCRS 70-72 Technical reference guide. That along with the assembly instruction manual and Prince's book I would suggest as priority. Add the others depending on the direction your project takes.
