Default Ballpark Price

What would be a ballpark price one would expect to pay for a locally owned (Mississippi & Alabama since birth) 1974 coupe w/ 454 & 4-spd manual, 60K miles, 2-owner, original inside & out with normal cracks & wear to door & dash, no wrecks, no rust, etc.? Also, it has been repainted the original factory color but paint job is of the 'OK' variety. It will need a professional one in the future to bring it back to a 'new' look. I am looking at one that belongs to a friend of a friend. I know the 74s and up are not appreciating that fast but being a 454.....well, been dying to get my hands on one at reasonable price. But, don't have enough experience yet to gauge prices very well. Seller is asking 13K and of course the tax man will get a chunk on top of that. Thanks for any & all help.

From what you describe 13 K is a reasonable request. However if he is hurting for money, show him $10,000.00 cash in your hand and he may let it go. Something about the sight of instant money always works for me!!!!

13k sounds a little high for what you describe. Not horrible, just a bit high. I would think $10k might buy it too.

As with any used corvette you have to check it completely. Just because it's a BB doesn't mean the frame isn't rusty, the differential isn't leaking, etc. Since it's rubber bumper car it will bring less then a chrome car but 10-13k for nice car isn't out of range. If I wanted a BB car I would go for an earlier BB car, but they run much more. Of course you could always put a BB or stroker in your car and you'll already know what you have, in respect to condition. Area plays a big part in it too, that same car might be for sale for $18-22k at Carlilse for instance.
Good luck,
Gary
