Default Laminated Schematic Tip

You know those laminated schematics that you can buy for your year car? Well, when your eyes get bad like mine, they can be extremely difficult to read. I scanned mine into the computer where I enhanced and cleaned up multi-generation copy crud. The red is hard for me to read so I changed everything to black and colored the wires with their proper colors.

Here is a piece of mine (I'm sure showing any more would be a major copyright violation )

I still have to replace the text with a clean font but you get the idea.

it would be nice if you could import what you now have to a cad program where each wire could be it's own separate layer, when tracing a wire you turn of the layers for the other wires and make it real easy to read.

depending on what program he is using that is possible, if he's using a vector based program then its a piece of cake...if its a reaster program.. a bit less so.

Good idea Steve

I am using Paint Shop Pro which supports multiple layers. I did put the original scan on a separate layer but I didn't think about each wire (or better circuit) being on it's own layer. Might just have to do that.

I plan to do exactly that. I just keep forgetting to bring it to work and have it scanned. After that, I just have to trace it until I've re-drawn the thing. Then I have the ultimate scheme for my car. Especially once I get my laptop. Then I can isolate the system I'm working on and have it handy.
