I've never heard of a Daytona Corvette. Looks like a fairly straight forward modification with bolt-ons, glue-ons and paint.

Yes; I have seen this body before. I saw it in 1982 in Texas in a corvette specialty/repair shop--same body, same side strips--same hood. Car was originally a 1980 or 81 body style. The car in the photo is a kit from Ecklers circa 1981. The car I saw in Texas had a small block with turbo on it.

That is a Greenwood Turbo body kit. You can view pictures of the body kit here.

http://greenwoodcorvettes.com/StreetTurbo.html

After Greenwood quit making them ACI continued to produce the kits. Greenwood only made 3 kits in 1977 so your friends 1981 must be based on an ACI body kit.

ecklers turbo II, the ecklers one featured in their fiberglass repair book even had that exact same striping. I like it, apart from the non pop up headlights.

That is the cover car for Eckler's catalog #11 around 1980 or so. They sold the body kits and did the cars in-house as well. There is a nice color spread showing pictures of the car in the back of the catalog. Pretty to me at the time so I kept the pix. It was the "Turbo 2" design.

I sent the seller this info.
