...it worked 3 times this evening coming home, but now the green light won't light up. Think I may have blown the fuse...I'm afraid to ask, but is the fuse panel that box tucked WAY up on the firewall, under the steering wheel?
If so, anyone have a manual handy who can tell me which fuse to pull and check? Can't really read the fuse panel...
Before you start pulling fuses I would mention that there is a timer in the defogger circuit. In other words it shuts itself off and has to be reset from the switch after X seconds. Try it again to see if it works now.
On my '78 the rear defroster timer\relay was located above the l\s kick panel under the dash. It was tucked into the steel body shell in a factory hole there. I had a purple and orange wire (I believe) running to it. Locating the placement is easier than locating the part. I had to go through GM vintage parts to get one. It was around $ 55.00
Happy hunting!
Mike
Here is the 1979 fusebox. I no longer have the factory shop manual but I suspect the defogger is running through one of the two 25-amp fuses at the top. Or the one on the bottom left.
