Default AR racing Question

I've noticed alot of people on the forum have been using AR racing engines in their car and wanted to check them out, what is there website, or phone number, i'd like to find out some more information before i go an order a new engine, and all those that have AR engines, what are your feelings on them? Thanks in advance for all of your help-Danny

I don't think they have a web site. As far as I can tell you must bid on one of their engines on the ebay thing. That bothers me that they don't have a site to explain and price their product. I would like for someone to tell me I am wrong so I could check them out myself.

They have a website but it seems like it's not updated too frequently...

http://www.maxhorsepower.com

They sell most engines through Ebay...

Personally, I've got mixed feelings. I've got an AR motor and have talked to a few others here on the forum with them. Some have had great luck while a few of us have had problems. Mark at AR is a good guy when you can get ahold of him. Best thing is talk directly to him on the phone.
I haven't determined the cause yet but here is the current state of my AR: Other Thread

Man, I missed that thread. This is getting scarier by the moment. Mark and I agreed that he would have my motor ready to ship at the end of September. (I payed January 19) Of course I haven't heard from him. When I do finally get it, it's coming apart down to the shortblock for a THOROUGH inspection. I'm already planning on changing the balancer and flexplate for sure and after seeing those pics probably the gaskets too. Looks like he used those Felpro stock rebuild head gaskets. I was very specific about some of the parts I wanted such as one piece chromoly pushrods, 1.6 COMP Pro Magnum roller rockers, viton valve seals, Edlebrock (not Pro Products) RPM Air Gap, roller cam button, Torrenton bearing, etc. I'm gonna make sure that I receive what we agreed upon before I put it in. Marks motors appear to be less expensive than most others but when you start requesting better parts he gets right up there with everyone else.

I'm still trying to determine where the knock on my AR 468 (with less than 3000 miles on it) is coming from. I'll be pulling out the engine and tranny week after next when I get back from san diego.

On a scale of 1 to 10 I give it a 3.

I think when all is said and done, I'm going to use this engine for target practice with my 300 Weatherby and get a World products crate motor.

That sound like a good deal.. but I'm skeptic about the horsepower rating... The heads are only 200 cc heads and the cam only has lift in the low .500's... That's usually not enough for 450 HP....

My AR 406 lasted around 2500 miles before the balancer grenaded while cruising along on the highway (at ~ 3000 RPM).

My Ar 383 has only about 500 miles on it but so far so good. Runs perfect, has stopped any smoking after about 200-300 miles and the small oil drip at the bottom of the timing cover has stopped. would rate 7/10 for quality not including the price. But, factor in the price and I would give 8.5/10. Now hopefully my balancer won't grenade in a week
