Default Heater Core Box Removal One ????

Yes, I am in the PITA of all jobs, heater core replacement. Why would I do this in Florida? Anyway, can one of you tell me where to access the nut on the stud for the upper left corner? I cant find it under the hood, and I imagine that is where it is??

Thanks

The stud is for the heater box, or air distribution box is the correct term, which is inside the passenger side. Yes it is a factory AC car, 1969.

I just did this and I remember it wasn't where I thought it should be. Do you have an assembly manual?

Oh boy, It just goes from bad to worse. I found the nut on the firewall neat the ac box, but now the +&*%##@# upper right bolt holding the box on is stripped, or probably the cage nut or whatever secures the bolt has broken.

Doe anyone have a idea what to do now? I dont think I can drill the bolt head, beacuse of the location. I dont want to resort to a bubba fix unless it is the last resort, HOWEVER, there is no way at this point that I am going to give up! I WILL replace that D*mn heator core!

When i did my 72 454 with a/c I had a big rivet in the top center holding the box on. I took the bolts off of the corners then i had to drill out the rivet with a 12" drill bit. When i put it back together the corner bolts held it on fine. I hear they put this rivet on at the factory during assembly.

Can you get in there with a dremmel and cut it off?

I'm going to have to do this later this year. Are you taking any pics?
