The weather was great and so was most of the week end. The show and shine was a farce! When you have car owners vote for class winners the clubs with the most attendee's always win the prizes. I have nothing against the clubs from OK, TX and yes they had some very nice cars but hey they took 90+% of the trophies. Sounds like the 2000 election debacle. I will go back to the Corvette weekend in Eureka Springs as it is beautiful. I may even pay the weekend entry fee but I think I'll skip the car show that is unless I can bring a couple of hundred of my friends to vote for me and each other.
I could of entered a show this weekend and won, but only 50 cars showed for 34 trophies. Broken windsheild and all. Enjoy the hobby. Trophies are for baseball.
Bob, You have a valid point about the clubs & cliques ganging up, but I would much rather participate in that type of format than have some half azz judge that doesn't know an LT-1 from a Z06 judge the cars based on whether there was to much lint on the carpet. I have to agree with Budman78....trophies are nice but the real value is meeting others, trading stories and enjoying the bond of a common interest and hobby. I know that sounds shallow coming from someone that squeeked out a runner-up plaque but I was not affiliated with any group down there. Wait......come to think of it I forgot and left my CF cling on the window from Effingham You don't think that had anything to do with it do you? Here I thought it was my unique 502 Ramjet setup
I also participated in the show. I also belong to a club. All participates get to vote. I can't speek for all participates but when I cast my votes I never gave a thought to who the cars owners were. I voted for the best cars. I also got a runners-up award, the car that beat me was very nice and deserved to win.
BTW, the most boring part of the whole thing was voting on the C5's. Picking a winner is hard enough but they split it up into early and late C5's; I can't tell the difference between a '97 and an '04.

I go to the shows just to look at all the other cars and enjoy the company of like minded people too. One thing I must say in defense of those 90% you mentioned is that due to the location it seems that it was probably made up from that 90%. That would mean a representative sampling won. It seems to be a part of human nature to favor the one's you know, so I'm sure the results would've favored Indiana participants had the show been held there. I don't think there is much difference in the attitudes of enthusiasts from different parts of the country. My $0.02.
