If I remember right, the 77 and back T-tops used a two latch system with a different rear plate while the 78-82 tops use a one latch system that has a pin that locks into the rear plate. I know that all of the ads for glass tops say they can be easily converted to work with the older vettes, but I'm not sure about going the other direction.
