My 79 got hit hard by 2-2/12 inch hale. Glass Tops /Windshield gone. One hole in door pannel.
Question is, the hail that hit the body and bounced off, did it do unseen damage to the fibreglass underneath? The same hail punched through truck camper shells and split the steel car port roof my Tahoe was under. Thanks Jim
I was out in Albequerque last year and remember thinking how nice it would be to have my Corvette with me for a drive. Didn't know you guys had hail out there that caused that kind of damage. Wouldn't surprise me if you had that "underside" damage you were talking about. All we have here is hurricanes, and pine trees falling on cars.

I've seen some bad hail in Florida.
These fiberglass bodies are actually pretty tough and dent resistant. My instinct would say that the paint would reflect any damage before the body.
I would be concerned that the gelcoat has fractures. Maybe bodyshop experienced in repairing hail damamged fiberglass would be able to help. You might be able to find a forum similar to this one except for paint and body men to ask that question. I visited one about three years ago and learned some good stuff. Hope you get good news.

A basketball goal fell in the middle of my hood last month during a storm, all it did was scratch the paint pretty good. Jeese, sorry to hear about the damage, hope it turns out OK.

Maybe this will help,on the composite structure of aircraft that isnt damaged by looking at it,you check using a coin or something to tap it.As you move around if its delaminated,or come apart underneath,it will clearly sound different than anywhere else.It will sound flat,or hollow, anyways tap somewhere you can see the underside of,and tap the rest.If it all sounds about the same you should be good.Hope this helps, sorry about the damage
