You can remove it (the module). Easiest way is to remove the glove box compartment liner. Look or feel to to the upper left corner (exactly behind where the light is located). With a quarter turn you can pull it back and then out.
Finding a good one is next to impossible.....you can fix it though if you are so inclined. There are plans available to build a new one. Do a search and you should be able to find it.
