454 buildup
the 454 I am building came with 049 low comp heads. and flat top pistons, which gives me around 8.5-1 comp. What is the best way to add a point to my comp. Mill heads, dome pistons, or do I need to do both. Mine as well build the most power I can afford while the engine is on the stand, right.

Cheepest and safest that I know of is to use a thin compressed head gasket. Certainly won't get you a full point in ratio, but it get's it for minimal cost and almost no risk of bouncing valves off your postons!

I would look for some older closed chamber heads.
The 802, 206, 702, 063 or 215's will drop the cc's of the heads to 100-102 cc's.
The closed chambers will get the compression up and with the flat tops will burn well.
Might be cheaper to get pistons, if your heads are good.
