the paint and decal job on my truck cost me 7500...Id say a decent quality paint job without any major bells and whistles should cost NO LESS than 3 grand. Paint is important.

The Painter will spray the entire front end of the car, and blend into the doors

cost me 7 grand to get a new front end put on (minus a fender)

$2200 got my buddy a fair paint job with no body work, down side was we had to do all the buffing since the painter was a jerk and walked away form the job crying he didn't charge enough

Default '82 Paint Costs

Hi, everyone. First time caller, long time listener here...

I just got my second quote to get my '82 repainted. The two quotes that I have are $7K and $9K.

Both places say they will replace both bumpers w/fiberglass (my request), both will remove doors to paint the jams, both will paint the window trim, one will replace the weatherstrip, and both expect it to take anywhere between 8 & 12 weeks to complete.

I honestly didn't expect the cost to be this high. Expecting $5-6K range.

Does this sound legit?

Default My problem as well

With paint, you definitely get what you pay for, but 8-9K seems a bit high. My vette and the BOSS both need paint, so I'm really looking at a big bill! I save quite a bit of money by removing all the hardware myself and I sand and prime them as well. I have also started to play around with the actual paint (on my kid's drag car), but I'm probably more dangerous than skilled at this point

What kind of coatings were used on your car? I can see color difference in the bumper & the rest of the car, as if the rear was sprayed over dark primer or gelcoat and the body not.

Another $1500 was included to put the body back on the frame, a lot of mechanical work, and the use of the garage, lift, and all of his tools.

TT, in that shot, the clear coat has been stripped dulling the old yellow paint. Some bodywork has been done and the bumpers are the black flexible fiberglass replacements.
