Default sun viser removal question

Title says it all -- I'm changing my interior from a very worn very dirty medium saddle to black (stay tuned for before and after pics soon) and have new sun visers ---- do I just grab the old ones and pull like heck or is there a trick? Next question is, of course, how do I get the new ones on -- just shove like heck or is there another trick?
thanks in advance
Ronnie

That is pretty much how it works. There is kind of a spring loop spine in there. I had to pinch my new one a little to tighten it up.

I changed the visors on my 82 and the pass. side slid off but the drivers side has the telescoping rod and there is a small "u" clip that needs to be removed and then the visor slids out.

I have that problem also. looks like pulling like heck could possibly work, but your going to REALLY have to pull, and the spring clip is going to be toast by the time your through. There has got to be an easier way?

Default Removing Sun Visor Rods

My `74 Visor has a steel tube that the chrome rods are stuck into...mine were rusted and I had to shoot some wd-40 to get things started...then twisted and pulled at the same time. After all was said and done I cleaned them with denatured alcohol and shot them with interior dye...came out looking like new again!

You have to remove that spring clip, you will break it otherwise Just push on one of the ends of the "U" with a very small screwdriver and it will slid right out. Then the visor will slip out of the crome piece.

Mine is not U shaped like a snap ring, it is circular with a whole bunch of little fingers that seem that grab the visor mount arm on all sides by friction? You'd have to somehow pry back every one of the little fingers to get it to release the visor mount or pull like hell and force the fingers to bend backward or break to release the mounting arm?

Is the u clip actually in the viser -- in other words you feel it through the fabric? Or is it on the rod outside of the viser?

I feel what might be clip in there.......

I replaced my visors because one was broke so I cut it open and it's just a friction hold. It just takes a strong grip and a lot of pulling as you twist/work the chrome rod back and forth. I used a rubber jar opener on the chrome end to help with grip' it will take a few min's but they will slowly work out.

Putting them back in was a lot easer I used a long screw driver to coat the inside of the visor with a little white lithium grease and a light coat on the rod.

My 82 may be different than yours, but the u clip is on the outside of the chrome piece that the visor goes into.
