I have a drop base on my 74 coupe with a three inch element and a performer intake. I only have about 3/8 inch clearance. I do not know how much higher the RPM manifold is. Have them measure from the bottom of the base to the top of the lid and do a little math.

It will work, that is the one that i am using (at least it sure as heck looks like it, ill take measurements of mine tommorow to be sure), all you have to do is cut out some small holes in the bottom of the air cleaner assembly for the float adjusting nuts to fit through, and cover them up with some pieces of aluminum and duct tape (sounds bubba as hell but it works for me) youll see what i mean by the adjustment nuts not letting it sit flush since they stick out through the top of the fuel bowl by a lot, you can also get this assembly at pep boy, its made by spectre.

The '80 hood is lower profile than the ones these guys have. Still think you could pick one up at Canadian Tire...and return it if it doesn't fit

I have a 79 with a stock (well not anymore but used to be) L-48 hood and it was tight, i mean the air cleaner nut would almost hit the hood, but i guess that could be due to the fact that it was pretty thick (i suggest getting a small wignut or something thin to give you more clearance), this is with a performer rpm and 650 speed demon.
