Master Cylinder
Can anyone tell me if a 1980 has a gasket between the brake master cyclinder and power booster? I have just replaced mine and the old one (I think it was original) did not have one and the new one does not, however in the service manual it shows two rings between the two. If it does require a gasket can I just make one out of ?

It should have a rubber gasket as far as I know, but it isn't necessary at all. It isn't sealing anything to anything. I think the general concensus is that it doesn't need it. If yours doesn't have it, the master cylinder may have been replaced at an earlier time.

there's no gasket between the master cyl and the booster.. if there's brake fluid there its bec, the master is leaking.. there is a rod that sticks out of the booster,, when you depress the brake the rod pushes against the piston inside the master cyl, forcing fluid thru the lines,,if there was a gasket you would not be able to tell that the master is leaking, which as it got worse could cause a lot of problems!!
