I've been asked to drive the old vette in a homecoming parade while one of the homecoming queen's will be sitting on the "T" bar. Is this OK to put weight on the fiberglass and back hatch glass?? Also, my car is a manual and I'm not sure about burning the clutch too much.
Just wanting to get opinions from ya'll and the folks that have done this before. It does sound fun though.
The weight shouldn't be a problem, I've done it before, and it was a lot of fun. No problems at all, except that you have to make sure they don't step on your seat with heels on! Enjoy!
I'll let you know what I decide. They are trying to get 5 verts (not just Corvette verts), so if they find 5 of them, I will not be using my car. If they don't, then they will use mine (with me driving ). A friend of mine has a '57 Bel Air vert that he will probably be driving (if he's in town).
If you come down, I'll be in the pearl teal green 79 (with ugly wheels that I need to replace).
I think that I'll volunteer! It does sound like fun. Now, I just need to get something to stop my breaks from squealing!!
Do you live north of MU, like Hallsville area?? My wife has some relatives that used to live there.

When is Homecoming? Also, is this for Helias or JC? I'm a '95 grad of JCHS. Might have to make it down for the parade if a forum member is driving in it.

Make sure your car can handle idling for 3-4 hours. You and the Queen will look pretty silly pushing a steaming Vette off the road.
I've done it, was a blast! I was able to lope along in first gear with minimal braking, overheating wasn't a prob...oh yeah get some sheepskin to put under their butt otherwise you'll end up with scratched paint..and I'm speaking from experiance Have a great time and practice your wave....elbow-wrist-elbow-wrist
