Default Standard 9 leaf or 7 leaf metal spring?

I am rebuilding the front and rear suspension on my 74 coupe small block this winter. I already have the 460 lb. grand touring coils for the front. I do not have the 3 inch clearance from my exhaust to the rear spring as recomended by VBP so I am going with a metal spring in the rear. Is the 7 leaf f-41 rear spring to stiff or should I go with the standard 9 leaf. I would like to match the front as close as possible. I do not mind a stiffer ride if it will help the handling. I will aslo replace all bushings with poly along with new strut rods. I am running the KYB Gas adjust shocks.

thanks,
Garson

I'm running the 7 leaf on mine and I love it. It is firmer, but I don't think it's too harsh.

When I needed to replace the rear spring, originally a 7 the only one my mechanic had at the time was a 9 leaf. I quite like it for long cruises especially on the back roads. I have 550 springs up front with Bilstein's all around and the ride is very good.
