I got a GM Goodwrench 350" in my '74 vette and it has "Hecho En Mexico" cast into the block. And there's nothing wrong with these blocks as even the new ZZ4 motors are "Hecho En Mexico". In fact i think all the Gen I small blocks are now "Hecho En Mexico". If its a earlier year block inplanted in ur '86, it maybe a rebuild and only the poeple that put it in will know whats inside it. Sorry Rick but i'd be wasting our time describing a Goodwrench motor.
Now a compression test with less than 180 psi is fairly low compression and u could follow tune-up specs for any smog year L48 350". Like my '74 say: 8* intial advance, AC R44TS plugs with .035" gap.
Hope this helps. cardo0

thanks, I was told the Mh04800 breaks down as m=mexico, H=august, 04 day and 800=1979?
It does have the 86 cast into the back.
it has old autolite plugs in it but there is no id on them so im not sure what to replace them with?
