just bought an '82 CE. I want to customize the interior. Anyone have any ideas? Black seats, carpet, black steering wheel? ???
Are there any web sites that have pics of customized vettes?
Purist will say dont mess it up. I say if you dont like it, change it, just dont do some silly pimp my ride type deal to it!!!
You can to dye the interior like I did to black (Mine was tan and not a CE)
You can put in C5 seats or Sparco Milanos($$) and sell your CE seats, then do a black carpeting and dye the dash black. I just dyed mine black (Walmart-Molecuebond dye) and am happy with the results 2+ years later still looks great.
Sell your door panels if they are in good shape and then buy new std black panels, or you can just dye your CE panels black. The CEs are different than the std panels and may be somewhat valuable to somebody if you just sell them.
Put in a Lecarra or Grant Corvette specific steering wheel. (The bolt-bracket pattern is custom to Corvette) They are black leather with chrome center spokes. Grant twin spoke looks better than Lecarra single spoke, but Lecarra has more padding in the leather section I think as some members have claimed the Grant leather area to be very hard.
Check out Groovy Jay for his interior set-up. There is also a few guys that have done C5 seats. Your 82 seats are desirable by earlier C3 owners as being more comfortable.
yea Ive always been torn about customizing a CE...but EFF IT!!! your car, your taste, change it up. More custom the better...Im getting some wild plans for my front end drawn up, and Im even looking at buying an 82 to go along with the 81 hahaha I love 80's Vettes....(chromies are my favs though)

You should feel free to customize, but I would either:
A) Keep the original CE-specific parts in a safe place
B) Sell them to folks who are trying to restore their CEs to factory specifications
This is, of course, assuming the interior is in decent shape.
