I get huge amounts of smoke at startup only. as soon as i kick down the choke the smoke alleviates and is gone after a while. I believe this means the valve seals need replacement. I was gonna try that stop leak stop smoke stuff to see if it will stop it or not, but somone told me that if i get the this stuff it will make my seals expand and then crack within a week and thus causing a real problem. I realized today however taht the valve seals are made of metal and not rubber so this stuff must just build up the valves seals in which case it wouldnt be a bad thing. O and this is for my daily driver(1990 mazda b2200), no way i would do this to the vette.
Valve seals arent expensive i know that, but i am a full time student that spend my entire weekend working. so i dont have time to do them and i dont wanna get raped up the a$$ paying some shop to "find" more problems that didnt exist like oh your head is cracked, looks like the previous owner hit it with a hammer, a huh a huh.
Forget it. It's not worth doing ANYTHING to a 14-year-old Mazda pickup truck. Just use some of that "MaxLife" motor oil and forget about it. After all, it's a great way to kill mosquitos!

I can't just forget it. I drive a corvette to school so its embarassing when i leave school in my smoking truck. People are probably like isnt that the same baller that drives that sweet corvette? Anyhow back to my original question, is it ok if i use that "stop smoke" stuff http://www.bardahl.com/automotive/pr...nosmoke_sl.htm
*after skimming through that site it seems that this stuff just increases the viscosity of the oil. Is it ok if i run heavier weight oil? right now whats left in it is 10W30, should i go to 20W40 or straight W30
Yes, higher viscosity oil will reduce smoking. Remember the old Vegas with unsleeved aluminum blocks? Not one of Chevy’s finest moments. I had one in college and I ran about 50/ 50 STP oil treatment and 30 weight oil. It helped reduce the smoking quite a bit.

you're in canda right???? gets cold up there???? anything radical in the viscoity may make the thing impossible to crank... start slow like a 20w-50, then a straight 30 , then go higher only if the truck can crank it... i see a january with cold temps and the college kid driving the vette since the mazda is too cold and the oil too thick to crank...
