In the course of shopping / investigating, I've found a few vettes with what appears to be marginal powerplants (non optimal config or many miles) - -
Since I don't care about matching parts or 100% vintage look, I'd consider a good crate engine - - any of you good folks gone that route? I've had more experience with the ford performance folks on this, but not GM - - Can I, should I want to, buy a nicely arranged big-block with EFI from GM that will it in a '69 vette? If not GM, then who might you suggest? Smog isn't an issue for a '69 in CA, but I like EFI for reliablity's sake.... But feel free to slap me down on that!
I'm not sure you'll get a BB with EFI from GM that will fit under a stock hood. (Someone correct me if you've done it.) There are quite a few after market EFI systems that you could bolt on top of a long block however. Zwede has a great example and was recently immortalized in one of the Vette magazines. Check out his site:
too many options to even think about...and for the record you can get some beefy engines under even stock hoods..we're talking demon carbs and Vic Jr intakes.

not in a 69 vette. unless you go small block..and it still wouldn't fit with the stock small block hood.
