Default Help with firewall issues

these two harness plugs, see pic:

http://www.luoxley.com/10-18-04%20007.jpg

do they just pull out, or are they attached from the other side?

And secondly, the clutch firewall boot needs to be replaced as the picture shows, any advice or trick to replacing it?

Thanks, Bill

The wiring harness on the right is on your fusebox, there's a small screw in the middle that holds this side to the fusebox.

There's 3 screws holding the clutch boot - nothing fancy. The new one needs to slide all the way up the rod over the end, so you have to remove the nuts and link from the rod first. Just mark where they are first. Also, don't lose the screws holding the old boot on since they seem to be a wierd size (don't ask how I know). I used a little black silicone to seal the boot at the firewall.

Good luck -

Default more help here needed

Tnx Zman and Twin, I appreciate your comments!

I found the bolt/screw holding the harness connectors to the firewall.

No wonder I’m having all this trouble. Is this black gooey crap, like an undercoat, all over these terminals for a reason, waterproofing? Man, a PITA.

I’ve got it mostly scraped off, but where does it separate?

See pic: http://www.luoxley.com/plug.jpg

At my drawn in red lines, or at the blue lines?

I’m concerned I’m going to break the whole darn thing off, and them I’m really screwed!

Ok guys, don’t let me ****** this up,

Thanks all, Bill

P.S. Thanks Z-man, I got that figured out, it’s that crap undercoating like stuff, now I see it, tnx again.

The entire wire assembly pulls straight out from the fuse box. Then one side (think its forward lamp..drivers side) "slides sideways" away from the other. The engine harness has a track that the forward harness slides into once it's disconnected from the fuse box. That black crap is waterproofing. It's basically dielectric grease on the connectors. Leave it...or change it when installing.
