I live close to them and am very familiar w/their products. Vettes have a very short driveshaft and I doubt the GV unit is a good idea. The shorter the shaft, the more closely you need to pay attn to the geometry of the pinion angle VS the transmission.
I've driven motorhomes with GV units in them and they are great .... also ridden in an Fbody (Trans Am WS-6) that had the overdrive from GV and it had a driveline vibration that drove me nuts!
Yeah it sounds like a great idea. I was thinking of going with a 5 spd. I just don't know how this unit works? How do you shift it..? Or am I being stupid?
A friend has one in a 78. It takes the place of the tailhousing, in this case a Muncie was used. I haven't driven in though to give an opinion. It does fit though.

A 2004R will reduce your car's overall weight. A GV unit will ADD to overall weight...and cost more. Oh, and you'll have to do some mods to your transmission tunnel.
