Back up light and turn signal problems

Back up light and turn signal problems
I got my dash back together and everything is fine except two things. The first is that the back up lights just stay on. The second is that the left turn signal works fine but the right one flashes once or twice and then just stays on. I am speaking only of the dash lights by the way. I did replace all the bulbs while I had it apart. The car has been sitting for about 6 months as well. Any ideas.

my back up lights stayed on all the time too. I looked under the car and where the 2 wires connect to the trans, the jackets were stripped almost 2 inches and kept hitting together grounding each other out. That turned the lights on and off. I think a bad switch will also do the same thing.

Thanks Lost. My main concern here is that I coldn't have done anything behind the dash related to either of these. I guess nothing inside has anything to do with the back up lights. I made sure the turn signal flasher was connected well also. I guess it could have just coincidentally gone bad.

If you have a 4-speed, the back up switch (on trans) and most of the wireing/switch connector is outside on the firewall. Automatic back up is controled by the neutral safety next to the shifter.
