I am sure that is nowhere near what it is called, but basically i need to replace the plastic piece that fits around the automatic shifter handle in the interior console, the one that moves with the shifter and seals the slot the shifter is in.
Does that make sense? If anyone knows what it is called, and where I can replace it for a 1975, it would be great!
1)Remove chrome kbob on shifter, save spring.
2)remove plastic shifter ball
3)remove 4 screws on console plate
4)remove console plate, some wiggling required. That plastic guide goes into the parking brake console area.
5)replace guide. use no lube.
6)assembly is reverse of removal.
Just got mine in the mail from Corvette America a few days ago (corvetteamerica.com). The part # is 26688, SHIFTER SLIDE SEALS - AUTOMATIC UPPER/LOWER
Only costs a few bucks.
ONe thing I found when I got mine is there is some part # stamping on the bottom of the upper slide which causes the sliding of the two poarts to be a little rough. A few minutes some 320 grit sandpaper fixed it right up.

I tried to follow these steps, but I have only found 2 of the screws on the console plate. The two I found were on the top right and left corners. Where should I be looking for the other two? I do not want to go prying around unless I know about where to look .
On my 80 they are behind the carpet about 4 inches in front of the plastic that goes around the emergency brake handle. Hope that makes sense. You will need to remove the carpet and the backing board they are glued to.
