Default New BG carb issues

After all the problems I had and figured out and thought I had it dialed in, well good enough until LARS shows up the 6th of Nov. Well anyway the idle sits at 850RPM but after a long drive it idles at 1100 RPM. TOO HIGH!!

CHECKED
linkage, same if linkage is attached
intake leaks, none
vacuum 16"hg at idle
butterfly position- set .020 both
A/F 14/16 a turn out.

I'm stumped right now.

is fuel percolating and increasing the idle???? do you have a heat shield? while your drivining is the air movement enough to stop this from happening????

yes thats what i mean, i guess it is the stage between a fluid and a gas and created by heat causing the fuel to expand. i don't know if that a scientific explanation but its what i'm thinking

i just fininished fabricating mine out of stainless steel, the only problem is the bends to clear the accereratol pump turned out to be about 5/8-3/4 of an inch, i was aiming for 3/8 - 1/2 ... i hate bending sheet steel.... oh well i guess a 1/2 phenolic riser may be in the equation. let me know now it turns out, My fear is that if I wind up using a spacer that it will create problems with air cleaner/hood clearnance. thks bob

The mysterious creeping idle has happened to me too. I just idled it down and it stayed put after that.

Something else I learned the hard way. Keeping the transfer slots equal never worked for me. I found out by trial and error that I got the best off-idle response with a certain amount of the primary slot showing. After I found that sweet spot, I left the primary alone. I then adjusted the idle with the secondary screw only. So, you'll have 2 very different setting on each throttle blade. You might want to try it. It worked for me.

Holley 850 here. But they operate under the same principals.
