Help with Head casting date
I'm about to have my 72 LT1 engine rebuilt. I bought it with aftermarket heads (angle plug circa 1975). I'd like to replace them with stockers. The block date is D62 (April 6, 1972) and the vehicle assembly date is J11 (May 1972). What would be an acceptable range of casting dates for the heads? Specifically, how early would be acceptable?

You need a head casting date that is before the engine assembly date stamped on the front of the block. Up to 6 months would be OK for most numbers guys but I would try to get within a month or so personaly. Closer than that and you are one lucky dude.
