Default Knockoffs on a C3

How do knockoffs work exactly, and what do you have to do to put them on a C3? I see people with what looks like fake knockoffs (they still have the 5 lug nuts behind them). If you want real ones, what do you have to do to your wheel hub? What are some pros and cons?

I drool over knockoffs every time I see them- they just say "... all the way to Dead Man's Curve" to me.

True knockoffs require an adapter that bolts up like a stock wheel would. That adapter has a threaded hub in the middle that you slide the rim over before you install the knockoff portion. My Vette originally came w/ wire knockoff wheels. Looked cool but the wire wheels are prone to going out of round, requiring occasional "tune-ups".

GDaina has 15x8's on his '68 & they look good. Doc Rebuild no longer sells that size anymore. Ebay would probably be the only place to get 'em.

I'm sure I saw a set of midyear style knock offs (wheels, adaptors, cones and spinners) in the Corvette America catalogue.

Weren't cheap....but i am sure they where in there.
